Description | A plain, wooden sheath for a sword. The sheath is split lengthwise into two pieces, both of which show considerable damage. Twine is wrapped around the center of the sheath to hold the two halves together. This type of sheath was used as a storage sheath (shirasaya) designed to protect the sword when not in use. |
