Description

Small carved canoe. Part of a curio carving consisting of a shark (iri sp.) on a pedestal (67-5-37C), holding in its open jaws this canoe (67-5-37A) with a man (67-5-37B) inside. The body of the canoe is black and inlaid with small "H" shaped pieces of shell, with shell discs in the scrolled end of the bow. End of stern missing. Round hole amidships through which the ends of the shark jaws pass. Carved by Aiwosuga of Natagera village.
