Description | Pot (A) Globular body, vertical rim; two horizontal loop handles on body. Plain. With calabash cover (b). Cotton contents. With small engravings, reminding one of 26871. Cooking pot (olla) with a globular body, cylindrical collar, flanged rim, 2 horizontal strap handles on the body, and a rounded base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel has an incised geometric design around the collar. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior and a smoothed finish on the interior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Evidence of usewear includes soot on the exterior and black staining on the interior. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1047." |
