| Description | Pipe with a long wooden stem (.2) and a red catlinite, or pipestone, bowl (.1). The bowl is L-shaped, uniformly cylindrical, and has no decorative carvings. The stem is flat, wider than it is tall, and narrows at the mouthpiece. It is inserted into the pipestone bowl and secured with a strip of cloth. There is burnt residue in the bowl of the pipe and dark staining at the tip of the mouthpiece and the point where it attaches to the bowl. The number 809 is written on one side of the stem, and 37621 is written on the other. |
