Description

Sommerville: Onyx. Antique portrait of Alexander Severus, 29th Emperor of Rome. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case D.

Vermeule: Onyx. Cameo (unmounted) Laureate draped bust of an imperial draped personage to right. Sommerville identifies him as Alexander Severus. (A.D. 222-235). but features are more those of Emperor Claudius. 15th century.
