Description | Sommerville: Chalcedony-Onyx. Trebonianus Gallus, forty-first Emperor of Rome. Gold and Silver Rings - Cameos, Case LLL. Vermeule: Chalcedony-Onyx. Cameo. (Modern Gold Ring Setting) Laureate draped cuirassed bust of a Roman Emperor to left. Sommerville identifies him as "Trebonianus Gallus, 41st emperor of Rome." This identification is suggested by coin portraits and compare favorably with the bronze head in Florence generally identified as Trebonianus Gallus. The cameo is probably XVIIth |
