Description | Description from catalogue module: "Hopi Hemis or Home Dance Kachina" Wooden painted figure in green, blue, light blue, white, black, red, and brown paint. The tablita three stepped headpiece includes feathers and plants tied at the corners and back. A yellow zig-zag ornament is tied from the highest tier of the headpiece to the back of the head and is adorned with feathers. The top of the "visor" and sides of the mask are adorned with fluffy "breath" feathers. The figure holds a blue/green gourd dance rattle in its proper right hand. It wears a white dance kilt with a narrow red, black, and green sash belt that hangs down proper right side, a fox pelt at back, and a green collar ruff that emulates evergreen boughts at neck and hanging down from the kilt. "J.K." is written in black on the bottom of the proper right foot. |
