Description

This figure is a guard or warrior identified as a Hopi Broad-Faced Kachina. The Kachina is carved painted wood with a black mask with a fan of feathers, bulging eyes, and prominent mouth and prominent beard in stripes of black and white. The figure wears a deep reddish brown kilt with a painted black snake design, and a red cloth sash, and fox skin at the back. Two large red spots painted on lower back and red cape at back shoulders. Brightly colored feathers are on the forehead and additional feathers at back of head. The figure holds a stick/staff in the proper left (PL) hand. The PR hand holds a stick and green yarn around the PR wrist.

Paint colors: white, black, red, pink, green, turquoise, yellow, blue.
