Description | The object is identified as a Hopi Corn Kachina. The plant Kachina is carved painted wood. The figure wears a cylinder style mask with red ears and mouth, a turquoise face with ears of corn painted on the cheeks, and a green ruff at neck. The figure wears a red felt bandolier. Feathers on the top of the head and small and large wooden feathers are attached to the back of the head.A fox pelt is tucked into the belt and hangs down the back. The figure holds a gourd rattle in proper right(PR) hand, and a hoe (?) in proper left(PL). Paint colors: white, black, turquoise, ochre, purple, green |
