Description

The object is identified as a Hopi Female Shalako or Cloud Girl. It is a painted wooden carved figure with a large head piece or tablita that has seven light gray feathers attached to the outer points. Two painted wood feathers attached at the center forehead (two others have broken off and are now missing). The figure wears the white maiden shawl with red and black trim and white boots; she stands on a wooden base signed underneath "Patrick Howesa." Painted colors: turquoise, ochre, red/orange, black, white, green, dark brown, clear coating over wood (light brown).
