Description | The object is identified as a Hopi Male Shalako or Cloud Man. It is a painted wooden carved figure with a large head piece that has four light gray feathers attached to the outer points. Four painted wood feathers are at the center forehead. The figure wears the man's embroidered killt around the shoulders, blue moccasins, and stands on a wooden base signed underneath "Patrick Howesa." Painted colors: turquoise, ochre, red/orange, black, white, green, dark brown, clear coating over wood (light brown). |
