Description | This figure is a dancing plant or flower Kachina standing on a base of wood (that has a tack pressed into the underside) and attached only on the proper left leg. The figure is carved and painted (color: yellow, white, red, dark blue, teal, black, dark green and brown) wood. The figure wears a helmet mask with black lines for eyes and a beak and a heavy ruff collar of green yarn. At the top of the head are red and gray feathers. There is a white fabric cloak with red and black ribbon as trim. A painted ribbon is located around the waist. Black yarn is tied around the knees and the proper right (PR) wrist; the hand holds a painted dance rattle. The proper left (PL) hand holds a plastic green plant branch and a leather cuff decorates the wrist. |
