Description | The object is identified as a Zuni Shalako. The tall Kachina is carved painted wood with decorated white fabric covering the entirety of the body. The figure has no visible arms or hands, horns on either side of the head, and protruding eyes and open beak mouth. The figure wears a blue, red and white seed bead necklace; both legs have black yarn tied at knees. On the bottom of the proper right foot there is #002 written in black ink. Paint colors: white, black, orange, turquoise, park purple, mauve. |
