Description | The object is identified as a Zuni Hilili or Longhair Whipper. The Kachina is carved painted wood with a blue mask with black slit eyes and large mouth, hair and beard and feathers atop the head. The figure wears a leather kilt, four leather bandoliers across the chest, concho belt, embroidered sash at proper right side, fox pelt at back, upper arm bands, wrist tie (PR), wrist cuff (PL), and tie at proper left knee, and turquoise blue moccasins. Paint colors: white, black, blue, light blue, red, green, yellow, brown, ocher. |
