Description | Handle: Base has 3.0cm. wide ring of bark. Remaining handle is without bark, smoothed, with leaf and floral design carved into it. Design runs vertically except for middle section which runs diagonally around handle. Head: Consists of knot in wood (?). Knot is covered with tiny bumps and separates into four branches, two of which subdivide, making a total of seven protrusions. Branches have been carved and smoothed into conical points. All cone bases are painted (or stained red) with a 2.0cm. wide red ring. Specimen is very unusual. Made for sale to tourists. Cultural identification: J. Witthoft. |
