Description

Huipil of three panels of cotton sewn together. Outer panels are red and white striped. Center panel is white with thin, white and orange stripes. Supplementary weft brocade on top half. Lower edge fringed.

As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp central panel: 44 epi, two singles, Z twist, red and white cotton and two ply yellow cotton. Weft central panel: 26 ppi, two singles, Z twist, red cotton. Central panel warp is predominantly plain weave. Warp side panels: 50 epi, two singles, Z twist, red and white cotton. Weft side panels: 22 ppi, two singles, Z twist, white and red cotton. Side panel warp is predominantly plain weave. Supplementary weft is single faced with warp wrapping. Three panels, three selvedges each. Woven on a backstrap loom."
