Description | Low relief ivory plaque with winged lion rampant. Muscarella Publication: "Same type of lion as above four examples, right. Minor differences are: legs with more musculature and a pointed tuft, an ear projecting backward behind the mane, wing decoration that is less neat. Note also the solid hair tuft on the lower back. This lion has both legs raised and is therefore standing or attacking. Rocker scoring on the reverse." |
