Description | A hatchet with an iron axe head. The handle is made a dark metal shaft which is then inserted into scabbard fragment made from a lighter metal. The scabbard fragment has two pairs of incised lines toward the upper end, where the metal shaft is inserted. A wooden wedge is inserted between the handle shaft and the eye of the axe head to secure them together. The upper end of the handle shaft and the axe head itself are both heavily rusted. |
