Sommerville: Amethyst. Gordianus Africanus Junior, thirty-second Emperor of Rome. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case Q.

Vermeule: Amethyst. Cameo. (Unmounted). Laureate, draped bust of a Roman Emperor to right. Carved in very high relief. "Quodianos Africains the II" A.D. 238. Neo-classic, imitating an ancient gem or coin portrait of an Emperor, perhaps Trebonianus Gallus.
