Description | Globular with flaring rim and two vertical loop handles on shoulder. Red-brown ware. Ornamented with incised angular meander, with enclosed dashes. Similar to 26869-26870 from other tomb Cooking pot (olla) with a globular body, flaring collar, flattened rim, 2 strap handles on the body, and a rounded base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel is decorated with an incised geometric meander design around the shoulder. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior and a smoothed finish on the interior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is red/brown in color. Evidence of usewear includes black staining on the interior and soot on the exterior. The catalogue number is written on the interior of collar. Black ink on the interior of collar reads: "1117." |
