Description | Large coiled basket. Rectangular shape with a flat bottom and slightly expanding side walls. Dark, imbricated designs are woven into the lighter colored, natural coils along each side. Designs are of diamonds and double diamonds in three separate bands across the exterior of the basket. The rim is wound with dark plant fiber and a dark zigzag band is woven just below. A thick, metal wire is wrapped around the basket just below the rim and secured with cotton thread. Animal hide straps are attached to the metal wire at three corners and at the center of one of the long sides. |
