Description | Dolls dressed in typical costume. On one end is an orange calabash tree. In a corner next to the tree one of the women is beating raw cotton on a cushion -- usually a net or bag stuffed with corn husks and covered with deer skin, Cotton seeds have been removed. Diagonally opposite is a woman spinning. right hand twirling spindle with point rotating in a calabash bowl. Beaten cotton is on a mat before her. She should have ashes for her finger tips. A Third woman is weaving on a loom attached to the tree and her waist. [Condensed from Burkitt's description] |
