Description | Round bottom; nearly cylindrical neck; one loop handle shoulder to neck plain with human face. Similar to an owl face. On neck featured applied. Face-neck vessel. Narrow-necked jug with a globular body, flaring neck, rounded rim, 1 strap handle extending from the neck to the body, and a rounded base. The vessel has a modeled (applique) face on the neck that includes only ears, eyes, and nose. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange and buff in color. Fireclouding is present on the body.
