Description | Pear-shaped body, flaring neck, one vertical loop handle on upper body, monkey head in full relief and body with spread legs and long tail encircling handle. Small jug with rudely painted figure Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an ovate body, flaring neck, rounded rim, 1 strap handle on the body, and a flat base. The vessel is miniature in size. The vessel has a red slip and white painted design of the body of a monkey. The head of the monkey is mold formed and added to the body opposite the handle. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2819." |
