Description | Sommerville: Sardonyx. Pallas, the Greek Minerva. This stone has suffered from fire, yet is sill beautiful. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case A. Vermeule: Sardonyx Cameo (Modern gold pendant setting). Helmeted bust of Minerva or goddess Roma facing to right. Workmanship seems to be Italian XVIIth century. Sommerville states "This stone has suffered from fire yet is still beautiful." |
