Description | Ring foot, broad. Plumply rounded body profile. Broad neck, concave in profile, separated from body by a ridge. Overhanging lip. Top of lip recessed as for a lid. Double handle attached at shoulder and at lip, curving outward at lip. Very hard light brown clay. Brownish black glaze over all except resting surface and area within foot on underside. Wheel-painted band around center of underside. Underside of foot molded. Intact save for missing tip of one part of handle. Treatment of underside of foot suggests 4th c. date. |
