Description

Sommerville: Sardonyx. Jupiter Tonans, with an effigy of Victory in his extended hand. Gold Rings - Intaglios, Case FFF.

Vermeule: Sardonyx. Intaglio. (Modern gilt ring setting) Jupiter seated right, figure of Victory on extended right hand, spear held vertically in left hand; eagle at feet front. Cursory Roman work of II or III A.D. carved directly so figure appears reversed instead of correctly in plaster impression. Graeco-Roman.
