Description | Mughal ganjifa cards representing different aspects of the Mughal court. There are eight suits with twelve cards in each suit, ten numeral cards and two court cards. Nine cards are missing making a total of 87 as opposed to the standard 96. The suits are the following: taj (crown) on a brown background, safed (silver) on a black background (no. 7 is broken in two), shamsher (sword) on a red background, ghulam (servant) on a yellow background, chang (harp) on a green background (missing no. 4), surkh (gold) on a green background (missing no. 5,8,9,10, and both court cards), barat (document) on a red background, and qimash (merchandise) on a yellow background (missing no. 5,8, both court cards). It has a box decorated with a lattice design and floral motif. |
