Description | Fine, loosely woven cotton muslin turban tie-dyed with a wrap-resist technique called lahariya in red, yellow, green, and black with exposed white sections. The lahariya technique is performed by rangaris (professional dyers). Checkered pattern is called mothara. Divided lengthwise into six bands; double row of chevrons of compound stripes, rose, white , yellow, green, some with square dots. Double row of chevrons of narrow green and white bands, the green crossed with rose rectangles; red with white dots. Double bands of chevrons of compound stripes, red, yellow, black and white with dots. Yellow with red and white bands intended to form double band of chevrons; duplicate of other end. Selvage on both long sides. Sheer cotton. |
