Description

Sommerville: Chalcedony-Onyx Hadrian and Sabina. Very fine cameo. Sabina, wife of Hadrian and daughter of Matidia, a good empress. She was enrolled among the gods at her decease. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case B.

Vermeule: Chalcedony-onyx Cameo (Unmounted). Jugate busts of a Roman emperor and empress facing to left; the former is laureate, draped and cuirassed. "Hadrian and Sabina." 18th century, based on a Roman 2nd cent. AD design
