Description | Sommerville: Antique Paste Intaglio, color rich topaz. Hercules. Beautiful gem. Antique Pastes, Case TTT. Vermeule: Glass paste, imitating Topaz. Intaglio. (Unmounted) Herakles seated to right, his left arm supporting his head, his club across his lap, his cloak appears beneath him on a pile of rocks. The design probably derives ultimately from the statue made by hycippus for the city of Tarentum. Graeco-Roman. |
