Description | A purple and pink garment/textile for certain rituals. It is a natural dyed purple silk worn by men in temple (วัด-Wat) festivities. Some villages wore a textile like this in ordination ceremonies and in the past used them to cover the body in a funeral. Squirrel Tail Silk (ผ้าก้อม or ผ้าควบ) is the name derived from the squirrel tail-like pattern of the silk, which is achieved by using double or triple plies of colored silk threads for the weft. This pattern creates a ripple effect of exotic colors, charmingly similar to the pattern of a squirrel tail. |
