Description | Pointed aryballos. Buff ware, red and dark brown painted decoration. Small, concave base; pear-shaped body; vertical neck; wide, flat topped rim. Strap handle from rim to shoulder. Three concentric circles on top of disk, starting with aperature. Vertical "snake" on handle with a dot at each curve. Glaze at side of handle. Broad tongues on shoulder. Zone of double incised scales bordered above and below by wide bands. Scales are picked out by dots in alternate diagonal rows. Reserve tongues on base oriented on band encircling the foot. |
