Description | Annular body; cylindrical neck with fair base. Painted with a face. Face-neck vessel. Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an ovate body, flaring neck, rounded rim, no handles, and a flat base. The vessel has a modeled face with ears, eyes, and nose. There are vertical bands down the sides of the body painted red and painted black with wavy lines. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "288." |
