Description

Small bench of dark fairly heavy wood. Seat and handle one piece; seat oval, handle diamond-shaped extension off short end. Relief design on top of handle could be abstracted human face. Two deep wide grooves on side around top half of diamond. Each leg attached by four large irregularly headed nails hammered in from top. On proper R, side split away when leg was attached, and was repaired by 4 small suqare headed nails inserted horizontally. Legs hour-glass shaped; carved dec. on one side only: a few horizontal grooves at narrowest point, and from lowest of these to bottom a vertical-oblique groove along each edge. Dec. side faces outward on R., inward on L. leg.
