Description | Wooden bowl ('umeke), narrowing to a flat base, which is solid for about 6 cm. from the bottom. Variegated wood. Two holes in base. Such bowls were used for storing and serving poi, meat and fish. The wood is probably kou (Cordia subcordata), which was the preferred wood for such bowls. |
